Customer Service and Admin Interview Questions and Answers
Questions for customer service, reception, administration, retail and call centre interviews, with what each tests and strong answers to compare with yours.
These interviews put you where rules, targets and people collide. Customer service panels expect you to know consumer rights: GOV.UK says a business must offer a full refund on a faulty item, that customers have the same rights in a sale, and that signs refusing returns or refunds are illegal, and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days. Citizens Advice adds that online buyers have a 14 day cooling-off period and that shops decide for themselves whether to take back items bought on a change of mind.
Data protection runs through every office and phone line. The Information Commissioner's guidance expects personal data to be accurate and not kept longer than needed, a subject access request to be answered within one month, and some breaches to be reported within 72 hours of becoming aware of them, which UK GDPR Article 33 also says. The Financial Conduct Authority expects frontline staff to recognise and respond to vulnerable customers, and the Health and Safety Executive treats verbal abuse and threats as work-related violence. The apprenticeship standards for customer service practitioners and business administrators describe the skills panels use as their checklist.
