Panels for these jobs ask for problems you have solved, not definitions. For project managers, the Association for Project Management says project management means satisfying the differing needs of stakeholders within a finite timescale and budget, and the government's project delivery standard, GovS 002, expects named risk owners, stakeholder engagement plans, change control and benefits management. PRINCE2 7th edition adds manage by exception and continued business justification, and the Scrum Guide describes sprints of a month or less. Expect to be asked what you did when a plan, a scope or a business case stopped holding.

Analysts and developers are asked how they know their work is right. The Government Analysis Function describes quality as fitness for purpose and asks analysts to communicate uncertainty and change clearly. The IIBA's BABOK Guide defines business analysis as enabling change by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value, and the government's capability framework describes software developers as writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach. The NCSC adds that security belongs in everyday development, not at the end. Sales panels add honesty to the mix: the Competition and Markets Authority lists 32 practices that are always banned, and section 7 of the Bribery Act 2010 makes organisations answerable for bribery by people acting for them.
